It is a custom in the World Wide Waste to have an about page. Well, this one does not do much, but while writting it, I had nothing better to do:

This is me, an Electrical Engineer trying to do a PhD in Data Bases and a PhD dropout. Well, as many of you know I have done almost nothing so far never really did anything PhD related. I have not been lazy, nor been fooling arround spending my father's money. Instead I have been lucky enough to be involved in a variety of projects related to the Greek Academic community- only they are not related to my PhD in any way! This is how it started...

From March 1995 to December 1999 I was one of the founding memebers (staff) of the NTUA NOC team. The NTUA-NOC also operated GRNET and AIX. I did all kinds of stuff for the NOC: helpdesk, administration, software development, FTP management (we have the best FTP server in Greece), Multicast, IPv6 and Network security stuff.

In 1998 and 1999 I was wearing the hats of the NTUA/GRNET NOC Postmaster and DNS manager. I even got lucky enough to be among the first three people who were the GRNET CERT (The other two were Georgios Koutepas and Costas Troulos). Then I got tired! (:-) When one gets (physically) tired, one had better stop working. Otherwise, both the level of service one provides and one's health suffer deeply. And so I stopped. I returned to the NTUA-NOC in 2001 but I was already heavily involved with the Technical Chamber of Greece's IP network and decided to stay with the TCG.

You may peek at my CV here (In Greek).

My main engineering interests are:

My main scientific interests included:

Thanks to the GUnet projects (and the NTUA participation) I was lucky enough to gain expertice in many of the above areas.

I read some security related magazines (ezines and not) links to most of which you'll find on my page (which serves as my bookmark page anyway). The most interesting ones I've found are Phrack (all-time classic), the (now defunct) Data Security Letter and the Information Security Bulletin. I also find jazzNtzaz highly informative (;-)

Newsgroups that I read heavily are:

I sometimes sign under the handle geraki (aka. "the hawk" in english). The reason for this is long burried back in 1986 when I bought my C=64. Lately some friends call me ``doctor''- that is because I tend to fix problems ;-)

If you can read Greeklish, this is how one of my best friends describes me. Yes, I tend to be very ill tempered, I can't help it...

'nuff said. Apart from the fact that I have studied Wing Chun Kung Fu and Tai Chi Chuan, I am not going to tell you anything more.
