Although IRC is considered to be a great waste of time, it is also a great
warehouse of knowledge. It is (in my belief) the best available medium
for social studies, as all kinds of people use it to communicate. Mostly IRC
is for fun so people, please please do not take it seriously.
Ever since the first split of the IRC Network, many nation-centric IRC
Networks have sprung, and so has GRNET.
As part of my involvement with IRC, I operate (for now) CITY.IRC.GR which is a server for the Greek IRC
Network.
